With Christmas up and coming, we wanted to inform everyone, although this is not a 'RELEASE' post nor are we giving you a definate release date.. we do have some news which may put a smile back on some faces and give those people something 'ELSE' to look forward too, besides the already popular, widely spoken and eagerly anticipated... ESE cheat protection tool
CTF
CTF (better known fully as 'Capture The Flag') has been a sidelined project for quite some time now within the ESE team due to other features, problem resolution protocol's (ahem 'bugs'
) taking priority and subsequently kicking back this brilliant oldtime classic mutator further and further behind schedule.We made a few internal beta tests approximately 4 weeks ago and ironed out a few issues whilst also realising there were 'big changes' necessary to make CTF fully compatible with TOST, Hitstats, Scoring system and Weapon Handling; Yea, such a mutator is quite complex believe it or not.
We got approached by 2 guys to help beta test the CTF, usually the door would of been turned in their face, but what we had was a perfect situation to not only help our CTF beta testing team out and bring vast amount of CTF experience on to the 'thinking table' - it also lent it self of a way to INCREASE the popularity of TO... and potentially forge 2 communities in to one...
These 2 guys (MarkEvilOne and Lauwe Virus) are both from the 3.4 Patch, where CTF servers are in their abundance and still very popular to hundreds of players. Many, apparently, have comtenplated on taking the plunge to 3.5, however due to the lack of a 3.5 CTF mutator, this kept most of them stuck in the transition, but with CTF soon to hit the 3.5 servers, many are said to be ready to tread water and make the much needed move, not only for the CTF reasons, but additionally due to the lack of an updated anti-cheat protection.
Don't ask for a release date. This Project has run from alpha to beta only a few weeks ago and there are still some crash-bugs remaining. ESE has higher priorities at the moment than CTF as you can imagine and without TOST44, this mutator doesn't work anyway.
But ... you can test Capture the Christmas-Tree (CTCT) on 85.10.197.164:4711 it is based on CTF.
PLEASE DO NOT REPORT BUGS.. we are aware of a fair few, we just release this as an early christmas present!
Generally:
Some weeks ago we played with the Idea to make a full public release on Christmas.
However we detected a fairly important Bug which definitely required an immediate patch fix before any such full release.
The second problem is, that in England as many will be aware of, there is talk of an epidemic of the Flu virus and this wave of illness is also in Germany. So, most of our Coders and ESE Staff have been or still are ill, which has resulted in our schedule being put back a week or two.
The Bug talked about above isn't fixed yet, so a Christmas release is going to be impossible.
For your information, there is a new 'Support' page in the menu at the Top of our site/forums. We hope that people who require assistance or have any questions/information for us can find quicker ways to get help or have answers via our Support options.

An alle aus der TO Community und die, die unserem Projekt regelmäßig folgen,
da Weihnachten sich nähert, möchten wir alle mit ein paar Informationen versorgen, wobei das leider kein "RELEASE" Post ist oder ein Datum mitteilt, dennoch haben wir einige Neuigkeiten, die dem ein oder anderen ein Lächeln ins Gesicht zaubern könnten.
CTF [Die deutsche Übersetzung weicht etwas von der englischen Version ab]
CTF (besser bekannt als 'Capture The Flag') wurde seit einigen Monaten als Nebenprojekt von ESE entwickelt. Das ganze hat aber nicht so viel Aufmerksamkeit erhalten, da immer wieder Bugs in ESE behoben werden mussten, jedoch wurde versucht diesen alten classic Mutator wieder ins Leben zu rufen.
Die ersten Spieletest fanden vor etwa 4 Wochen statt, wobei so ein Mutator, ob man es glaubt oder nicht, einen Haufen Zeit verschlingt bis das ganze TOST / ESE / Hitparade / Scoreboard freundlich ist.
Außerdem bekamen wir Hilfe von 2 Personen, die uns geholfen haben, diesen Mutator zu testen. Ziel ist es ggf. die beiden Communities TO 3.4 und TO 3.5 zusammen zu führen da die meisten wegen CTF bei 3.4 geblieben sind. Das könnte noch mal einen push in TO geben.
Diese beiden Personen (MarkEvilOne und Lauwe Virus) sind beide aus TO 3.4 Patch, wo die CTF Servers mit mehr als 100 Spielern noch recht gut besucht werden. Mit CTF für 3.5 könnte man diese Spieler von 3.4 nach 3.5 bewegen, da sich die 3.4er nach einer gescheiten, aktuellen Cheatprotection sehnen.
Fragt nicht nach einem Release Date. Das Projekt ist erst vor ein paar Wochen aus der Alphaphase zur Betaphase gegangen und einige Crash-Bugs sind noch da. Jedoch hat ESE eine höhere Priorität und ohne TOST44 funktioniert der Mutator eh nicht.
Aber.. wer möchte kann Capture the Christmastree auf 85.10.197.164:4711 testen, der auf CTF basiert.
Allgemeines:
Vor einigen Wochen spielten wir mit dem Gedanken das endgültige Release an Weihnachten zu machen, jedoch fanden wir einen Bug, der noch definitiv vor dem Komplett-Release gefixt werden muss.
Erschwerend kommt hinzu, dass derzeit in Deutschland eine Grippewelle die Runde macht / machte, was zur folge hatte das unsere Coder für eine Woche ausgefallen sind. Somit haben wir schon wieder Zeit verloren. Der Bug ist bislang noch nicht gefixt, weshalb ein Weihnachtsrelease unmöglich ist.
Dafür gibt es aber seit heute eine Supportpage oben in der Menüleiste, die es jedem Neuling ermöglichen soll, möglichst schnell Support zu erhalten.
Dennoch wünschen wir allen eine Frohe Weihnacht, besonders unseren Familien, ESE-Supporter, ESE-Betatestern, ESE-Beta-Gameserveradmins, die normalen TO-Spieler und auch den bösen Cheatcodern/Cheater (es ist Weihnachten, da sollte man einmal im Jahr freundlich zueinander sein)
